Warragul bowlers topple Traralgon

Warragul Bowling Club had a fair day in round five of WGBD pennant on Saturday with one team winning and three losing.

Division one: Warragul lost to Morwell Club 85/108.

John Vickerman, Paul Simmons, Ken Scammell and Bill Clappers lost to Dennis O’Keefe’s team 24/25. Terry Sullivan, David Alderman, Janette Gallasch and Clive Padgham lost to Rod Smith’s team 22/23. Keith Wilkins, Ian Belling, Peter Gallasch and Glenn Lockett defeated Wayne Lynch’s team 26/19. Ken Landman, Des Stephens, Toby Wallace and Graeme Davis lost to Mick Coram’s team 13/41.

Division two: Warragul (2) defeated Traralgon (2) 103/85.

Ron Collins, Shirley Melsen, David Smith and Necip Akarsu defeated Arthur Moore’s team 36/12. Flynn Pallot, Alan McDonnell, Pat Hammond and Bob Currie defeated Don Livingston’s team 22/18. Matt Smith, Matt Draisma, Roy Hammond and Jim Moyle lost to Geoff Cole’s team 11/36. Kerrie Currie, Elsie Hefford, Andy Kidd and Peter Wood defeated Wayne Bishop’s team 34/19.

Division three: Warragul (3) lost to Yinnar 93/108.

Jean Kydd, Ken Brown, Greg Mitchell and Ken Taylor defeated W. Harris’ team 23/22. Ted Holland, Marg Keeffe, Chris Wilkins and Mark Hall lost to M. Delahaye’s team 24/25. Glynis Mitchell, Lester Mason, David Gatewood and Linda McCoy lost to T. Roche’s team 24/28. Bob Dowal, Brian Barby, Barry Downer and Eric Porter lost to T. Shore’s team 22/33.

Division five: Warragul (4) lost to Morwell (4) 57/64.

Gary Thomas, Wilf Boscombe, Mike Cousens and Alan Potter defeated N. Nikodemski’s team 26/23. Freda Lay, Lindsay Matthews, David Piggin and Len Duncan defeated T. Curtis’ team 17/15. Fletcher Pallot, Bill Dye, Dave Lawrence and Vin Roche lost to B. Lorenz’s team 14/26.

Division six: Warragul (5) had the bye.

Pennant takes a break on Saturday for the Victorian Open before round six of WGBD pennant on Saturday, November 25. Warragul (1) is away to Trafalgar, Warragul (2) is home to Moe, Warragul (3) is away to Drouin, Warragul (4) is home to Moe and Warragul (5) is away to Drouin.

Club matches

The singles championsh­ip and mixed pairs championsh­ip are down to the semi-finals.

In the singles, Graeme Davis will play Brian Kennedy and Ken Scammell will play Paul Simmons.

The mixed pairs will see Pat and Roy Hammond playing Linda McCoy and Ian Belling while Elsie Hefford and Matt Draisma will play Marg Keeffe and Bill Clappers.
