Country nights a hit

-

The Power Ranch at Trafalgar East added push lawn mower racing to its live country music night last month.

The night, featuring Trafalgar’s own Dale Gannon followed by interstate artist Danny Phegan and “The Longreach Band”, also incorporated a car, hot rod and ute muster.

Brett Treadwell of the Power Ranch said it was Danny Phegan and his band’s first time in Gippsland.

“They loved the area, commenting how picturesque it is and they can’t wait to return,” said Mr Treadwell. “The crowd were blown away by the talent of the artists with people travelling down from New South Wales and across from South Australia, as well as from all over Victoria following the band.”

After building a racing arena, Mr Treadwell said the music night saw the first push lawn mower race. Four teams of three people completed for $150 in cash prizes.

Together with the vehicles on display, Mr Treadwell said “it was a great start to the night”.

Ride-on lawn mower racing will return to its final 2017 event on Saturday night. Country music will be provided by Kaitlyn Thomas followed by the Iain Archibald Band. Mr Treadwell said this year’s events had attracted a more mature crowd with big numbers travelling from interstate.

He added artists confirmed for 2018 included Christie Lamb, “Deep Creek Road” and Drew McAlister.

The Power Ranch is located at 525 Mountain Glen Drive, Trafalgar East. Tickets for Saturday night are $30 for adults, $10 for kids aged 13 to 17 years, and free for kids aged 12 and under.

Tickets can be ordered online or at the gate.
