Neerim victors in wet conditions

Neerim District had a successful weekend, winning both Saturday pennant games.

Its division two team jumped to second on the ladder whilst division five celebrated its second win of the season.

Division two: Neerim District defeated Traralgon (3) 106/87.

Peter Brooks (skip), Greg King, Trevor Kuhnell and Bruce Mironow won 25/16 against T. James’ team.

Peter Throup (skip), Karren Sheers, Russell Meehan and Wes Ellis, playing against R. Davis’ team, won 31/21.

Ray Watts (skip), Jim Fallon, Gerry Engelstad and Ross Pollard, playing against I. Case’s team, were equal going into the last end. They were sitting four shots down when Ray Watts managed to gain one shot to win, 27/26.

Angus McGillivra­y (skip), Pat Fraser-Aurisch, Tony Thornton and Colin McKay, playing against M. Cumming’s team, lost 23/24.

Division five: Neerim District (2) defeated Morwell (3) 84/69.

Mal Collins (skip), Bill Cook, Thelma Schroeder and Kevin Aurisch were ahead all game. They managed to hold on to win 23/19 against L. Edge’s team.

Tom Goodwin (skip), Steve Halligan, George Rymer and John Rochford, playing against D. Bailey’s team, were ahead all game to win 35/23.

Gerald Winter (skip), Jim Schroeder, Phil Mapleson and Greg Bond were 14/4 on the ninth end against J. Klein’s team. However, Neerim was unable to score again until the 20th end with the score 15/26. Neerim continued to mount a late comeback, only to lose 26/27.

Tuesday

Division one: Neerim District defeated Trafalgar 82/62.

Pat Fraser-Aurisch (skip), Dianne Tame, Gerald Winter and Kevin Aurisch, playing against S. Robinson’s team, were ahead all game to finish 46/12.

Elizabeth Hodge (skip), Thelma Schroeder, Russell Meehan and Colin McKay, playing against H. Taylor’s team, were behind all game, losing 15/27.

Karren Sheers (skip), Jim Schroeder, Marion Willis and Gerry Engelstad were behind most of the game against M. Holdsworth’s team. The teams were locked at 21/21 on the 24th end, only for Trafalgar to again gain two shots and take the win. Neerim lost 21/23.
