Neerim District record losses
It wasn’t a good week for Neerim District Bowling Club after losing both divisions on Saturday.
Division two: Neerim District lost to Yallourn (2) 87/104.
Peter Brooks (skip), Trevor Kuhnell, Chris Hogan and Tony Thornton lost 24/26 against J. Wasiukiewicz’s team.
Peter Throup (skip), Karren Sheers, Russell Meehan and Wes Ellis, playing against J. Lawrence’s team, lost 18/25.
Ray Watts (skip), Jim Fallon, Gerry Engelstad and Ross Pollard, playing against N. Houston’s team, lost 23/32.
Angus McGillivray (skip), Greg King, Pat Fraser-Aurisch and Steve Halligan lost 22/21 against R. Curtis’ team.
Division five: Neerim District (2) lost to Garfield (2) 64/82.
Mal Collins (skip), Bill Cook, Thelma Schroeder and Colin McKay were behind all game against Les Pumphrey’s team before drawing level on the 22nd end. They held on to win 27/23.
Tom Goodwin (skip), Bruce Mironow, Neville Cousins and John Rochford, playing against Gordon Moxey’s team, were behind all game to lose 15/34.
Jim Schroeder (skip), Gerald Winter, Phil Mapleson and Greg Bond led to the 10th end against Helene Newton’s team. Garfield got on top before Neerim gained on the last ends. It wasn’t enough, losing 22/25.
TUESDAY
Neerim District had a loss to slip down to fourth on the ladder.
Division one: Neerim District lost to Traralgon 57/71.
Pat Fraser-Aurisch (skip), Dianne Tame, Gerald Winter and Jim Schroeder were leading until the 22nd end against R. Lorenz’s team. However, they lost a five on that end to lose the game 20/25.
Elizabeth Hodge (skip), Thelma Schroeder, Russell Meehan and Colin McKay had a close and tight game going into the last end against P. Trewin’s team. With scores equal, Neerim won two shots to take the win 23/21.
Karren Sheers (skip), Maureen Halligan, Marion Willis and Gerry Engelstad, playing against K. Garry’s team, were behind all game to lose 14/25.
The final of Warragul Bowling Club’s women’s championship pairs was played on Wednesday.
The final had Janette Gallasch and Elsie Hefford against Marg Keeffe and Sue Haddock.
Janette and Elsie got three on the first end before the next four ends were shared with two ones each. This saw the scores at 5/2.
