Young actors sought

-

The search is on for 40 young performers to join Theatrecraft Youth Unlimited’s residential theatre intensive at Yarragon in January.

The program will run at Allambee Camp from Friday, January 12 to Monday, January 22.

It seeks to challenge young performers - aged 13 to 21 years - through exposure to diversity in directorial style, interpretation, cast and venues to extend experience and skills.

Subsidised places for youth with a Baw Baw Shire connection are available.

The youth will undertake 10 days of immersive training and rehearsal leading up to the premiere performances of a suite of specially written new works by emerging playwrights Stephanie Clark of Warragul and Didem Caia of Melbourne.

Performances will be held at Trafalgar Public Hall on Saturday, January 20 at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday, January 21 at 2pm.

The program, which incorporates the summer residential and a winter residential in Bendigo, received a $15,000 grant from the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund last week.

Since 2008, young theatre performers from across Victoria have been part of Theatrecraft Youth Unlimited projects to further their skills and meet other likeminded individuals.

Registrations for the 2018 program “The Places You’ll Go” are now open. It runs under the auspices of The Victorian Drama League.

Special assistance places for participants from Baw Baw Shire, broader Gippsland and others who would otherwise not be able to attend is available thanks to Baw Baw Shire, Baw Baw Arts Alliance and The Victorian Drama League.
