School holiday workshops

-

The Baw Baw Arts Alliance is not just for adults who wish to develop their artistic skills.

After a successful series of school holiday creative art workshops for children throughout 2017, artists and teachers Jessie McLennan and Prue Barridge will be conducting summer workshops in Trafalgar during January.

The school holiday workshops are based on material from the National Gallery of Victoria.

The program, called “NGV Kids on Tour”, returns after success in January 2017 and promises to be another exciting offering from the BBAA in 2018.

There will be a collage workshop inspired by the Fiona Hall exhibition “Uneasy Seasons” and a drawing workshop designed by Russian artist Olga Chernysheva.

Fiona Hall is an Australian artist who is passionate about the environment and her collage activities invite young artists to create an animal and its environment.

Olga Chernysheva likes to draw everything she sees around her, especially in Moscow where she lives. She loves drawing imaginary creatures too.

Prue and Jessie will make sure there are activities for young people who may prefer creating art in a whole range of different media.

The Kids on Tour activities will take place at the Trafalgar Railway Station’s Artspaces on Tuesday, January 9; Wednesday, January 10 and Thursday, January 11. Morning sessions will be from 10am to 12noon and afternoon sessions from 1pm to 3pm.

For those who miss these sessions, some will run at the Warragul Arts Market on Saturday, January 20.

To take part call Prue Barridge on 0417 500 244.
