Successful championship

-

The Trafalgar junior tennis singles championships was held on a perfectly mild Sunday summer’s morning, with a sprinkle of rain not affecting the spirits of the young and athletic local players.

Sarah, Emily, Molly and Thomas were the four of the six players from the section seven team who arrived to start their singles experience, after a season playing alongside each other in the Baw Baw Tennis Association competition.

Molly Young was the ultimate winner, in her first season playing tennis for Trafalgar.

Friends Noah, Eva and Harry from the section five team enjoyed their first experience at battling it out against each other this season, and in a final close game, Harry outlasted Eva in a close tie-breaker, with Harry narrowly winning the section title.

The section four players consisted of Trent, Campbell and Sam who usually chat and laugh through their Saturday games, with their other team member, Kai, unable to attend due to work commitments.

The three young players all focused on achieving singles glory today, with Campbell Young coming out with the most wins.

Junior girls champion Winsome Sheehy and junior boys champion Alan Valenzuela both displayed power and consistency to easily win their titles, and they both went on to play the seniors singles championship later on in the day.

Trafalgar Tennis Club is a great environment for all members of the community to join up for a casual hit, play Thursday tennis, night tennis, Saturday morning or afternoon.
