Gippsland women empowered to make things happen

-

Gippsland women will be empowered to make big and little things happen in their lives at this year’s Women in Gippsland International Women’s Day event at Lardner Park.

About 200 women from across the region are expected to attend the morning tea on Thursday, March 8 where they will focus on goal setting for success.

The event will feature a keynote address by community leader and former Baw Baw Shire mayor Ruth McGowan, followed by a practical goal setting workshop led by Leah Mether from Methmac Communications and facilitated by 20 Gippsland coaches.

Women in Gippsland co-founder Kerry Wilson said the event aimed to help local women make 2018 their best yet.

“Not only will it be an inspiring morning where you get to mix and mingle with a room full of amazing local women, you’ll also leave with a personal and practical goal and plan in place to help you achieve one of your dreams,” Ms Wilson said.

“The women will be given a practical framework for setting goals to make big and little things happen in their lives and they’ll be supported through the process by our local coaches.

“It’s going to be a fabulous event,” she said.

More than 100 tickets have already been sold, with numbers capped at 200.

“We always have a surge of ticket sales in the last two weeks, so we expect to reach capacity,” Ms Wilson said.

“It’s an inclusive event open to women of all backgrounds and life stages. Babies are welcome, so you don’t have to worry if you can’t find a baby sitter and we’ve got lots of local businesses booking tables for their employees too.

In line with the International Women’s Day 2018 campaign theme of Press for Progress, Women in Gippsland has priced its event at $16.80, rather than $20, to represent the 16 per cent average pay gap between men and women in Australia.

The Women in Gippsland International Women’s Day ‘Making Big and Little Things Happen in Gippsland’ morning tea will run from 9:30am-11:30am on Thursday, March 8 at Lardner Park. Registration and networking is from 9am. Tickets can be purchased online at www.trybooking.com/TYPF.
