70th year for Red Cross appeal

-

March is an important month for Warragul Red Cross.

Look out for local branch members collecting at Bunnings for Red Cross Calling, which runs for all of March.

This is the 70th year the appeal has been run, and funds go to finance Red Cross humanitarian activities both in Australia and further afield.

Members no longer doorknock due to aging membership, but you can make a donation online at www.redcross.org.au/redcrosscalling, or drop in at the Red Cross shop and your donation can be received and receipted. All donations over $2 are tax deductable.

The Red Cross shop also welcomes donation of good quality used clothing, manchester and bric-a-brac.

Volunteers are always needed, so drop in at the shop and have a chat to the friendly staff.

Branch meetings are held at 5pm on the first Monday of the month in a member’s home. All welcome. For more details phone the shop on 5622 3511.

Emergency services have had a quiet start to the year in Gippsland but are trained and ready for any activation. You may see them out at Farm World this year taking part in a recruitment drive for the whole of Gippsland.

For further information on Emergency Services visit the website www.redcross.org.au/emergencyservices.

A recent meeting in Moe saw three people awarded 10-year long service medals, and Rose Atkins thanked for her 32 years of service to emergency services.
