Drouin out of finals after 10-shot loss
Drouin was unable to overcome its last hurdle to make the division three grand final on Saturday.
In front of a large gathering of Drouin spectators who travelled to Yallourn to watch the preliminary final, Drouin had two rinks up and two down but lost to Traralgon RSL by 10 shots.
Division three: Drouin (2) lost to Traralgon RSL (2) 83/93.
Bob Cole, Dale Hedrick, Tim Anderson and Noel Rubenstein (skip) defeated N. Bellary’s team 30/12.
Samantha Atkinson, John Bulmer, Col Jeffrey and Col Finger (skip) defeated G. Asbury’s team 28/19.
Clive Newman, Pauline Appleyard, Phil Jarred and David Tayles (skip) lost to M. Gibbons’ team 10/30.
Laurie Innes, Janet Aubrey, Steve Barr and Graham Woolstencroft (skip) lost to B. Smiles’ team 16/32.
That’s it for Drouin Bowling Club in Saturday pennant 2017/18. It has been a very good year with two teams making the finals and division four saving relegation with two big 20/0 wins in the last two rounds.
Now outdoor bowls have finished, indoor carpet bowls will start with social bowls held every Thursday night from Thursday, April 5.

After finishing the season on top, Drouin’s division one team had a 13-shot loss to Yallourn in the first week of finals.
As a result, Drouin will now play in the preliminary final against Trafalgar today at Yallourn. Division one: Drouin lost to Yallourn 58/71. M. Leighton (skip), S. Atkinson, M. Rhodes and L. Firth won 21/12. M. Schofield (skip), P. Appleyard, M. Firth and G. Aubrey lost 20/34. D. Hamilton (skip), J. Aubrey, L. Jeffrey and L. Innes lost 17/25.
