Division 2

Ellinbank (3-358) vs. Warragul: Warragul found themselves on the receiving end of a fearsome assault from Ellinbank in their round 14 clash, with the Gulls almost helpless as the Eagles racked up 3-358 from their 70 overs.

An incredible 178-run opening stand set the tone for the day, with Lachlan Pratt (who made 85) and Chris Pallot (who ended a recent batting slump with a stunning knock of 112, his third century in as many seasons) making the most of a dispirited Warragul attack.

With Paul Bridges-Black - the mainstay of the Gulls attack – missing from action, it was left to Nathan Macfarlane to do the bulk of the work for Warragul, and he toiled hard, claiming 3-118 from his 24 overs.

Alex Gaudion took advantage of the tiring attack to belt his first century for Ellinbank and his innings of 102* put the icing on the cake as the Eagles racked up a massive total.

Jindivick with upper hand

Jindivick (9-251) vs. Garfield-Tynong (1-12): Jindivick warmed up for semi-final action with a successful hit out the crease against Garfield-Tynong, and the Jumping Jacks will enter day two with the upper hand over the Titans – who require 240 runs to win.

Eddie McGillivray (42) and Caleb Boswell (30) combined for a 51-run first-wicket stand that set the tone for the afternoon, and their enthusiastic approach was continued by the likes of Steven Dillon (68), Greg Interlandi (24) and Michael Buzasi (24).

Together they helped lift Jindivick to 9-251 before they declared late in the afternoon.

Savage (four wickets), Skobla and Pearson were the pick of the bowlers for GarfieldTynong.

The Titans were left with seven overs to face out, and amidst the gloomy conditions they couldn’t emerge unscathed – making their way to 1-12 before stumps were called.
