A combined effort between Warragul Scout Group and the local community has seen 50 care packages sent to Australian troops serving overseas.

The project, instigated by scout Savannah Ives, saw two community sessions last week.

The resulting care packages were sent off on Wednesday afternoon to arrive to troops in time for Anzac Day.

Warragul Scout Group leader Kristy Waddell said the project was a chance to bring people in the community together.

“It’s a chance to think about people overseas serving away from family at a time when people like to come together,” she said.

Scout Savannah Ives came up with the idea of creating care packages to support Australian servicemen and women currently serving overseas. Her leadership on the project will also help her achieve an Australian Scouting Medallion.

Biscuits and lollies were amongst items packed into care packages for Australian troops by Warragul Scout Group members Fletcher and Felicity Waddell.
