Bunyip and Drouin suffer losses

-

Bunyip and Drouin suffered losses in round two of division five state league south division.

The Strikers proved no match for experienced side Dandenong White Star, suffering an 8-1 loss.

The White Star simply had too much firepower for the Strikers, with D Heerah scoring three goals and J Worbel a brace.

Four other single goal scorers added to the Strikers’ pain, who could only manage a consolation goal.

The Reserves were more competitive, going down 2-1.

The White Star scored the first goal of the game, but Bunyip were able to push back and send the match down to the wire.

Drouin were competitive in their senior match with Endeavour Hills Fire.

The F ire were first to score but the Dragons responded, only just unable to force an equaliser as they went down 3-2.

Aided by some ill discipline that saw two opponents yellow carded, the Drouin Reserves won 1-0 to collect the points.

The Dragons senior team sits sixth on the ladder, with the Strikers languishing at the bottom and looking to respond.

Meanwhile, Warragul United completed a 10 victory over Caulfield United Cobras.

Warragul scored in the first half, with the Cobras unable to equalise.

It kept Warragul’s unbeaten start to the season alive, with United in second-place behind the Manningham United Blues.

Caulfield got the better of Warragul in the Reserves, winning 4-1.
