Ca­nines used for Trafal­gar ar­rest

The po­lice ca­nine squad was called in to as­sist with an ar­rest of a man at Trafal­gar on Tues­day night.

Po­lice in­ter­cepted a ve­hi­cle in Con­tin­gent St at about 11pm.

The driver, 33-year-old Liam Hume, was wanted for out­stand­ing war­rants in Tas­ma­nia and Tas­ma­nian Po­lice had is­sued an or­der for his ex­tra­di­tion. Mr Hume es­caped po­lice. The ca­nine squad was called in and about an hour later, the man was de­tected hid­ing in a res­i­den­tial ar­eas of Trafal­gar.

Po­lice said Mr Hume sus­tained some in­juries from the dog.

Mr Hume was re­manded in cus­tody to be ex­tra­dited to Tas­ma­nia. Po­lice said he had links to the War­ragul area and was tem­po­rar­ily stay­ing in the area.
