Canines used for Trafalgar arrest
The police canine squad was called in to assist with an arrest of a man at Trafalgar on Tuesday night.
Police intercepted a vehicle in Contingent St at about 11pm.
The driver, 33-year-old Liam Hume, was wanted for outstanding warrants in Tasmania and Tasmanian Police had issued an order for his extradition. Mr Hume escaped police. The canine squad was called in and about an hour later, the man was detected hiding in a residential areas of Trafalgar.
Police said Mr Hume sustained some injuries from the dog.
Mr Hume was remanded in custody to be extradited to Tasmania. Police said he had links to the Warragul area and was temporarily staying in the area.
