Hockey sea­son en­ters 40th year

West Gipp­s­land Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion is fired up for their first week­end of fix­tured matches at syn­thetic turf at Bell­bird Park, Drouin on Satur­day.

This will be the 40th an­niver­sary of the first matches of the West Gipp­s­land Hockey As­so­ci­a­tion. The WGHA will cel­e­brate this mile­stone dur­ing round four of the 2018 sea­son on Satur­day May 12.

The 2018 sea­son has 15 rounds, cul­mi­nat­ing in grand fi­nals to be played in Septem­ber.

The WGHA wel­comes new play­ers. Men and women, boys and girls play on Satur­days.

The ben­e­fits of hockey in­clude stay­ing fit and but also the feel­ing of be­ing part of a team and feel­ing wel­comed.

Younger play­ers can get in­volved with un­der eight and un­der 10 teams which play on Fri­day nights.

Spec­ta­tors are al­ways wel­come to pop down to the syn­thetic turf at Drouin with no ad­mis­sion cost.
