Quartet at Wesley

-

A versatile and inventive classical music program is expected when “The Acacia Quartet” performs at Wesley of Warragul on Sunday afternoon.

The four remarkable musicians - Lisa Stewart and Myee Clohessy (violin), Stefan Duwe (viola) and Anna Martin-Scrase (cello) – will perform as part of the “Simply Music” program at Wesley in collaboration with the Melbourne Recital Centre.

The program will feature Australian piece “Boomi’s Ray” by Nick Wales, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s wonderful, but dark and melancholic, “String Quintet in G minor, K516” and Antonín Dvorák’s “String Quintet Op. 97” which he wrote during summer vacation in Spillville, Iowa, just after his famous American quartet.

In eight years, Acacia Quartet has won great respect for versatile and inventive programs which couple established repertoire with the unorthodox.

They have recorded six albums, three of which earned nominations for an ARIA Award for “Best Classical Album” and an APRA-AMCOS Art Music “Award for Excellence”.

The concert will be held at Wesley of Warragul on Sunday, July 1 at 2.30pm. Doors open at 1.45pm.

Tickets are $35 for adults, $30 for concession and free for students.

For bookings, contact the West Gippsland Arts Centre box-office on 5624 2456 or visit wgac.com.au. If available, tickets can be purchased at the door.
