Mount Baw Baw prepares for a huge winter of fun

-

As the temperatures drop across the state, Mt Baw Baw is a white wonderland enjoying the best start to a snow season in years.

While the fresh snow has lifts turning at the moment, Mt Baw Baw’s snow factory is set to rewrite the script for the entire snow season with fresh snow promised in beginner ski areas in and around the Bowl.

Mt Baw Baw General Manager, John Fascio, has high hopes for the mountain’s snow season saying.

“Being one of the few alpine resorts in Australia with a snow factory, we’re convinced this will be our best season yet in attracting visitors from all over, whether it be families with young ones or those wanting to experience snow for the first time”

Another first for the mountain is the opportunity for visitors to meet Mt Baw Baw’s resident alpine dingoes, Rowdy and Warragul. As the mountain’s environmental ambassadors, both are set to make their snow season debut this winter.

Visitors can meet the new crowd-favourites at the dingo enclosure, which is open all year round, or for those keen to learn more about these unique creatures, educational talks are available by booking.

On Melbourne’s doorstep, snow enthusiasts can try their hand at traditional downhill skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing, all at just 150 kilometres from the city.

Promising more than snow sporting experiences, the Howling Huskys will be making their return to the mountain, where visitors can explore Mt Baw Baw’s backcountry in scenic husky-drawn sled tours at all times of the day - from sunrise to under the stars.

Boasting over 35 hectares of terrain, Mt Baw Baw is the go-to destination for first-time snow seekers and young families looking to create their first snow experience with 30 per cent of its runs designed for beginners.

Set for an action-packed winter, Mt Baw Baw will be brought to life week-on-week with events for all to enjoy, from Christmas in July to a Malaysian-inspired festival as well as the mountain’s very own Food & Wine Festival.
