-

An extensive search involving police and State Emergency Service was implemented at Toorongo Falls near Noojee early Sunday morning when a teenager drinking with a group of friends went missing.

The 19-year-old Korumburra youth was with three friends from Korumburra and Berwick. The three males and a female had been to Noojee for lunch and later went to the Toorongo Falls.

Police said it appeared the youths had been drinking at the falls area, when one of the youths went for a walk in the bush and failed to return.

Police were notified just before midnight on Saturday night that the teenager was missing.

Police, including search and rescue and the airwing, along with the assistance of the State Emergency Service searched the areas surrounding the Toorongo Falls campsite from early Sunday morning.

Despite an extensive search for many hours, police said the man was located safe and well by his friends.

Police said the man was very lucky, saying he was alcohol affected and wandering in the bush which could have been quite dangerous.

Police urged people visiting bush areas like Toorongo Falls to ensure they have appropriate clothing as temperatures at this time of year drop very low.

Police said temperatures got down to two degrees Celsius on Saturday night and a lot of time and effort involving a lot of people went into searching for the man.
