BK’s Burgers now in Warragul

-

Gippsland will benefit from up to 10 new jobs created by a new BK’s takeaway that opened in Warragul in early June.

BK’s takeaway, synonymous with the ‘Brendan Burger’ already have outlets in Korumburra and Trafalgar, and the new Queen Street outlet in Warragul is an indication of managing director Brendan Kingwill’s intention to grow the franchise within and beyond Gippsland.

The opening was broadcast live into Cambodia, where BK’s takeaway have strong links with potential investors.

Mr Kingwill has strongly promoted the liveability and investability of Gippsland internationally.

The opening was also a family affair, with Mr Kingwill’s mother, brothers, sister in law and daughters all supporting the launch, with Mr Kingwill’s daughter Teagan also taking a leading role in managing the fit out and launch of the store.

Officially launching the Warragul shop was Chief Executive of the Franchise Council of Australia Mary Aldred, who said it was inspiring to see the growth and expansion of BK’s, which started as a one person outlet in Trafalgar.

“Franchising employs near half a million Australians across our country, contributes $146 billion to the national economy, and has more than 80,000 franchise outlets across Australia.

I’m honoured to have been invited to celebrate the opening of one more franchise business that will employ more Gippslanders, add to the liveability and diversity of Warragul, and grow a great Gippsland brand.

Every single new job in Gippsland is something to celebrate, and the new BK’s Warragul will create up to 10 new jobs,” said Ms Aldred.

Brendan Kingwill said designing and fitting out the shop had been something many people in Warragul had contributed to.

“This includes our plumber Paul Misuraca right through to the local electrician Craig McGarrity.

All the sign writing was done in Warragul and cabinet making was also local.

The Cartoon wall paper was designed by a Philip Island artist who we contracted to design the fantastic cartoon artwork you can see in on the shop wall as well as in our branded packaging,” said Mr Kingwill.

Mr Kingwill also thanked Phillip Farnham from Farnham Construction for his on-going support with all our Brand roll outs.

“To get to this point has involved a lot of work with Australian Investment Cambodia and their CEO Rasmey Sokmongkol,” Mr Kingwill added.

At the opening, Mr Kingwill welcomed his new staff on board, who range in ages from 16 to 60.

“I hope you enjoy your work here, and learn the skills and experience to maybe one day even manage or own your own franchise business,” Mr Kingwill said.

“Franchising employs hundreds of thousands of regional Australians and provides a really important start in the working life of many young Australians who learn so many work and life skills from their first job in a franchise business, right through to working parents who are able to bring in their household income while benefiting from the flexible work hours to help them balance family and carer responsibilities at home,” Ms Aldred said.

The establishment of this new site also requires additional support from head office which will see them employing more staff at our Head Office in Trafalgar.

This includes admin and marketing positions to assist in the growth of the BKs Brand throughout Gippsland and the State.
