Drouin Cycles expands into Warragul with Baw Baw Cycles

-

Following the closure of the last Warragul-based cycling shop in December, Drouin Cycles’ owner, Steve Muggeridge, has brought retail cycling back to life in the township under the new moniker; Baw Baw Cycles.

Baw Baw Cycles, opened 2 July 2018, is the sister store of the locally renowned Drouin Cycles; West Gippsland’s most successful cycling retailer since 1983.

Whilst Drouin Cycles is an official stockist for Giant Bicycles, Baw Baw Cycles will stock a completely new – and vast – range of bikes from worldwide brands; Trek Bikes, Scott, Wilier, Merida, Norco and e-bike specialist SmartMotion.

Catering for the BMX and Skatepark enthusiasts will be the labels KINK, Grit and Crisp, along with a wide variety of cycling apparel and accessories.

Since taking over the business in 2013, Steve has transformed Drouin Cycles into a local cycling hub, known equally for the quality of product as the considered customer service and willingness to simply chat ‘cycling’ to anyone with a keen ear.

When asked to elaborate on the new community that has seemingly been born from his efforts in growing Drouin Cycles over the past few years, Muggeridge was humble.

‘For me, it comes down to why I’m in business.’ He says. ‘It may be a little cliché to some, but I can honestly put my hand on my heart and say I don’t wake up everyday trying to make a profit. Taking on Drouin Cycles and, now, expanding into Warragul with Baw Baw Cycles, has also been about one thing for me; supporting the greater Gippsland region of recreational cyclists, professional athletes and those with a passion for cycling.’ Muggeridge concludes.

Designed to cater to the Family and Recreation market (and leaving the Road Racing scene to the exclusive ‘underground lair’ at the Drouin Cycles shop), Baw Baw Cycles is located at 3/131 North Road Warragul, open Mon-Fri 9am5.30pm and Sat 9am1pm.
