Carnival feel for Hawks at home

-

Bairnsdale must have felt they were playing in a special carnival round when they arrived at Drouin on Saturday morning.

To provide a range of games across the morning Drouin invited local teams in the Warragul and District Junior Football Club to play on the “big arena” rather than the usual venue of Bellbird Park.

The decision was perfect for parents who were able to park cars around the ground and watch in relative comfort as winter turned on its fury.

After the games the youngsters were able to go into the clubrooms and see pennants on display, the honour boards and photographs of past players.

In the fourths Drouin wasn’t able to score any goals going down to Bairnsdale 3-44.

Bairnsdale was too strong for the young Drouin side, leading at every change.

Even though the team has struggled to put goals on the scoreboard, the side is continuing to show there is plenty to build on.

The Hawks were able to produce some good passages of play against the Redlegs but were unable to turn it into goals.

Best players for Drouin were Jordan. Murphy, Trent Kearney, Lachlan Jagoe, Bailey Pryor, Joshua Maric, and Andrew Hobday.

Drouin has the week off this week coming before playing Warragul at Western Park on July 15.
