Warragul Industrials and Longwarry under 16 sides set the tone for a competitive day of football between the clubs with a thrilling match.

In many respects the junior match followed a similar theme to what would later transpire in the seniors.

The Crows kicked out to a three goal lead at the first change, only for the Industrials to fight back in the second term with four goals to hit the front.

The match tightened in the second half as the Industrials held a narrow lead.

Neither side could manage a goal in the final term as the Industrials held on to win 6-4 (40) to 5-4 (34).

Harrison Perry, Luke Kinder, Ethan Storer, Henry Tyers, Lachlan Crook and Brayden Hefford helped the Industrials hold on for victory.

Bailey Osseweyer, Bailey Stephens, Angus Adamiak, Brodie Bould, Zac Wright and David Ahrens helped keep the Crows in the contest.

The Magpies made their move following a tight opening quarter, booting seven goals in the second term to set up a commanding 55point lead.

The Blues won a competitive third term in a tremendous effort considering they brought only 11 players into the match, but the Magpies finished strongest to increase the margin in the final term.

Hayden Wallis and Brian Kelson each kicked three goals, while Ryan Knight, Caspian Jackman-Riches, Zac Gray and Patrick Boys were also among the better players.
