Hawks sit third after win

-

Drouin netballers won all three senior games and now sit third on the ladder in both A and C grades.

A grade: Drouin 55 defeated Bairnsdale 50.

The Hawks finally got the start they wanted; playing the game with intensity and a high work rate which had been missing over the past few weeks.

Defensively, Ella Gown and Lucy McKellar worked tirelessly to turn the ball over. However, the team couldn’t convert these into goals.

Olivia Konstanty was a highlight of the game. She put her body on the line in every contest, chased up numerous loose balls and played the perfect captain’s game.

It was a game the Hawks would prefer to forget. They are going to enjoy the week off to re-energize and get together for some team bonding.

Awards: Olivia Konstanty, Lucy McKellar and Ella Gown.

Under 13: Drouin 12 Bairnsdale 28.

In terrible weather conditions, the Hawks struggled to keep up with a quick Bairnsdale outfit. Although they didn’t come away with a win, there were still plenty of positives to take from the match.

In attack, the Hawks put together some fantastic passages of play. Their full-court defence was great, causing turnovers all over the court.
