Industrials fall to Seaford

-

Women’s football was again played at Eastern Park on Sunday with Warragul Industrials taking on second placed Seaford.

A very even game of football in the first quarter saw both sides locked at seven points apiece after new player and best on ground Sarah Mayman levelled the scores at the end of the first quarter.

Persistent attack of the football during the game by both teams made for a close game right up to to half time, but it was the more determined Seaford with some free flow football that gave them the upper hand before the half time siren, kicking three more goals and a handy 21 point lead with plenty of work to be done by the inexperienced Dusties team.

The Dusties never gave up and the third quarter was a good start for the girls with Mel Burns kicking a Dusties goal, but the Seaford players’ on-field strength and intimidation proved to be a telling factor of the game, again booting three goals in the third quarter and another five in the final term to hand the Seaford women an easy 72 point victory over a depleted Dusties side.

The Dusties women are playing at Western Park on Sunday with the Warragul Industrials hosting the Dusties family fun day from 11am until 4pm.

Football and netball clinics will be held with face painting, a petting zoo, jumping castles and barbecue. Women's football will kick off from 12pm. Everyone is welcome with free entry. Final score: Dusties 2-2 (14) to Seaford 127 (79). Warragul: Goal kickers: M Burns, S Mayman. Best players: S Mayman, J Arras, J Robertson, K Llewellyn, A Evison, L Gordon. Seaford:

The Dusties Youth Girls travelled up the highway to play Bunyip on Sunday.

The Youth Girls have continued to improve with every game and were looking forward to a close tough game against the Bunyip girls.

The girls played a fantastic defensive game and never gave up against a much stronger Bunyip side on their home turf.

Dusties were no match in the end with the only goal being kicked by Caitlyn Phillips to Bunyip’s seven goals.

Final score: Bunyip 7-6 (48) to Dusties .3 (9). Dusties: Best: Alicia Clerks, Shaylee Wilson, Channen Dare, Leesa Gustella, Caitlyn Phillips and Alana Shone. Goal: Caitlyn Phillips Next week is a bye for the interleague carnival being held in Sale and Stratford.
