Warragul close in on top four

-

Warragul United broke through to score a 2-1 win over Caulfield United in division one of south east state league soccer.

Joel Baldwin scored in the first half as the sides went into the half time break locked at 1-1 apiece.

A goal to Paul Kuol in the second half deliv ered victory for Warragul to end a difficult run of losses.

The win moved Warragul to fifth on the ladder, just one-goal behind their Caulfield United rivals.

Warragul reserves put in a strong showing to defeat Caulfield United 4-1 and set up the opportunity for a clean sweep.

Three goals to one in the second half saw Warragul run away with it.

Oscar Sheehan, JimMills and Lachlan Huizer scored for the home side.

The win lifted Warragul to eighth on the ladder.

Strikers beat rivals

Bunyip Strikers defeated rivals Pakenham 1-0 in state league division five.

Unfortunately the home team couldn’t muster the numbers for a reserves team, handing Pakenham a 3-0 victory by virtue of forfeit.

Dragons feel heat

It was a difficult day at the office for Drouin, who suffered a 6-0 loss at the hands of Knox.

Entering half time with a 2-0 advantage, Knox slammed through four goals in the second half to round out a comprehensive win.

Drouin let an opportunity slip in the reserves.

Leading 2-0 at half time, Drouin couldn’t maintain the advantage as Knox scored three goals in the second half to run over the top.
