Early book week at St Josephs

Students at St Joseph’s Primary School, Trafalgar celebated book week recently.

Book week, which is usually held in August is part of the national CBCA (The Children’s Book Council of Australia Awards) and this year’s theme is ‘Find your Treasure’.

It was with great enthusiasm that the students of St Joseph’s dressed up early for their own book week.

Lots of colour, character impersonat­ions and effort went into their costumes and all students had the opportunit­y of parading in front of the school, explaining each of their characters.

Applicatio­ns for stalls at next year’s Thorpdale Potato Festival are now open.

The 2019 festival will be held on Sunday, March 10. Interest in stalls is already flooding in. Something new to next year’s festival is that all entertainm­ent will be free of charge. This means that not only the three jumping castles and giant slide will be free, but the bucking bull and the new merry go round are also on the free list (age and height lists apply).

The helicopter also will return so if you have wanted to see Thorpdale while you hover in the air, this is your chance.

The woodchoppe­rs also will return as well as a whip cracker, patting pets will keep the youngsters happy and TC Trickz are returning with a few more amazing shows.

Even more excitement is on track with the CFA showing how they help save lives on our roads and those magnificen­t Hessians-on-theField creations will be stunning audiences again.
