Lions welcome new members

-

Drouin Lions Club has recently welcomed two new members to its club.

Members have welcomed Anthony Garner who was sponsored by Lion Theo Versteden and Wendy Thompson who was sponsored by Lion Barbara Mitchell.

Anthony and Wendy were inducted by Lion Debbie Brown from the Longwarry Lions Club. Debbie has held many positions in her club and was honoured to be asked to do the inductions.

Drouin Lions club gives members an opportunity to advance worthy causes, serve with friends, and become leaders in the community. This club means a lot to our Lions, but it means so much more to the people we serve,” said club president Erika Wassenberg.

The Garden and Home Expo Committee is busy organising the expo. This is the 18th year the Drouin Lions Club has run this family event. This year the expo will be held on October 13 and 14 from 9am to 4pm each day.

“The Drouin Lions Club has been supporting our local community for over 40 years. We meet for Dinner Meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month. We have a membership of over 30 but are always looking for new members. We volunteer because helping our local community and seeing the results first-hand is immensely satisfying.

“One of the best things about being in Lions is the lifelong friendships you make. The club is not just about fundraising. We also have a lot of fun social events at the club,” Erika said.
