Magpies start strong

A strong start helped Poowong comfortabl­y account for Neerim-Neerim South 13-10 (88) to 4-4 (28).

The Magpies kicked five goals to one in the first term and were never headed, adding eight goals across the second and third term while keeping the Cats to one behind to have the match in their keeping.

The Magpies took the foot off in the final term and the Cats took the advantage, booting three goals to win the final quarter.

Andrew Wallis and Lachlan Bourne each kicked three goals for Poowong, while Glenn Attenborou­gh, Stephen Joyce, Adam Fisher, Jordan Knox and James Clark also helped set up the Magpies win.

Saints work to win
