Drivers injured in head-on collision

Bona Vista Rd, Warragul was closed for more than three hours on Tuesday afternoon following a two car head-on collision.

Baw Baw Highway Patrol police are investigat­ing the cause of the collision that saw a Warragul woman and child transferre­d to Melbourne hospitals with serious injuries.

The collision occurred on Bona Vista Rd near the Gibson Rd intersecti­on.

The two cars included a red Hyundai travelling north and a black Mazda travelling south.

Police are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces of the head-on collision, including the possibilit­y that one of the vehicles may have drifted on to the wrong side of the road.

Police said a 41-year-old Warragul woman was driving the Hyundai while her eight yearold son was in the back seat. The boy was taken to Monash Children’s Hospital, also with serious injuries.

Police reports said a 49-year-old Warragul woman and two children in the Mazda.

Both female drivers were taken to hospitals in Melbourne with serious injuries.

Police said the collision occurred at about 4pm and caused delays during peak school time traffic. A school bus with students was stuck amongst the traffic. The road was closed in both directions and cars turned around.

The CFA and SES members assisted at the scene.

The road re-opened at about 7.15pm.
