Help seniors get online

-

More local organisations are being encouraged to get senior aged people online.

Member for McMillan Russell Broadbent said the Federal Government was making up to $20 million available, with individual grants of up to $50,000, to organisations to deliver free digital skills training.

He said Warragul Community House, Warragul Business Group and Gippsland Employment and Skills Training were already among those delivering programs, but more were needed.

There are already about 1500 organisations across Australia, including libraries, community centres, clubs and aged care facilities, involved with the Be Connected Network.

Mr Broadbent said that by joining the network, organisations can help senior maintain their independence and keep connected with family and friends.

Participants get free, face-to-face coaching and access to interactive tutorials and resources.
