Industrials Reserves qualify

-

Warragul Industrials held off a determined Ellinbank to win through to the second semi-final.

Ellinbank were competitive for the majority of the contest and remained a threat, but a mini burst in the third quarter gave the Industrials enough of a buffer to hold on and win, 8-11 (59) to 6-9 (45).

Following a tight opening quarter, the Industrials kicked three goals to one in each of the second and third terms to kick out to a 27point buffer at the final change.

The Eagles kicked the only two goals of the final term, but the Industrials were able to do enough to defend their lead.

Sam Davies, Scott Lindsay, Brent Kimm, Nelson Minichiello, Murray Kingwill and Scott Blaney led the Industrials to a hard fought victory.

Ben Drew, Mark Johnson, Michael Pandolfo, Neale Parke, Shannon Whelan and Jayson Barwick led a competitive effort from the Eagles.

Blues kick away

Reigning premier Catani kicked away to comfortably account for Buln Buln in the under 18s, 13-13 (91) to 8-7 (55).

Following a tight first term that saw scores locked at 3-2 apiece, the Lyrebirds just couldn’t go with the Blues, who kicked 10 goals to five to run away with it.

League leading goal kicker Lauchlan Gregson had a big say on proceedings, finishing with six goals.

Kiam Rose, Liam Adams, Ryan Smith, Maverick Kent and Jason Cox also led the way in a strong win.

Flynn O’Reilly (three goals), Kyan Willis, Jaryd Kelly, Marko Kulas, Bailey Wright and Jack Storey kept battling against the odds for Buln Buln.

Inaccuracy costly

Longwarry overcame a slow start to comfortably account for an inaccurate Poowong, 8-6 (54) to 2-8 (20).

The Magpies scored the first goal of the match but missed opportunities proved costly from there, with their next goal not coming until the final term as the Crows ran away with it.

Bailey Osseweyer, Matthew Kouris, Sebastian Crowle, Bailey Stephens, Liam Quarrell and Aidan Fox helped the Crows kick away.

Kyle Loveridge, Ryan Knight, Tane Derrick, Joel Darts, Hayden Wallis and Zac Gray helped the Magpies win their share of the ball.
