Large crowd hear juniors speak

A large crowd was present for the final of Trafalgar Lions Club’s junior public speaking final held recently.

The event was a follow up from the local school’s competitio­n which ran throughout the month of June.

Matilda Crane of Trafalgar Primary School, Millie Francis of St Joseph’s Primary School and Odin Muir of Narracan Primary School competed in the grade 3-4 section, while competing in the grade 5-6 section were Caleb Wilson of Trafalgar Primary School and Bridie Balfour of St Joseph’s Primary School.

The winners were Millie Francis and Bridie Balfour, who will progress to the zone competitio­n to be held at Trafalgar Public Hall on August 19 from 2pm.

The Trafalgar Lions Club thanked Brodie Korab for helping Pat Tatterson emcee the event, Patrick Kennedy for his three-minute talk, judges Glenys Brennan, Jake Proctor and Terry Bottoms. The club also thanked Baw Baw Shire Councillor Darren Wallace for presenting the winners with their certificat­es and Lions who set up the hall and catered for the event.
