Win sends Gulls to finals
Comfortable wins for Warragul in A and B grades over Bairnsdale will see both teams line-up in elimination finals on Sunday.
A grade: Warragul 52 Bairnsdale 38. B grade: Warragul 54 Bairnsdale 28. defeated
The Gulls were keen to finish the season strong, which is what they did for most of the game.
The defensive pressure of Renee Cook, Alex Cole and Bec O’Halloran was yet again relentless, picking off many passes and forcing some wayward passes by the Redlegs.
The passes from Hayley Roberts to the goalers was again on song, giving Anna Green and Jaime Rollinson plenty of shooting opportunities on which they capitalised.
The Redlegs fought out the game well, with some strong passages of play, but the Gulls were just too strong on the day.
A solid win by the girls to finish of the home and away season.
The team now look forward to finals which has been a rarity for the Gulls A grade of late. The girls are very much looking forward to the challenge to see how far they can go against some seasoned finalists over the next few weeks.
Awards: Renee Cook and Hayley Roberts.

The Gulls were playing for their finals future, with a win needed to give them a hope of making it to the finals.

The girls worked well moving the ball down the court, getting vital goals to keep their lead. As a result, the Gulls secured a comfortable 26-goal win and, importantly, secured fifth spot on the ladder.
Awards: Grace Radford and Eboni Wall.
C grade: Warragul 26 Bairnsdale 46. Under 17s: Warragul 26 Bairnsdale 44. Under 15s: Warragul 23 Bairnsdale 53. lost to
A young Warragul team was no match for the more experienced Bairnsdale.
Despite it being a close first half, Bairnsdale ran away with the game in the second half.
An injury to Cara McIntosh two minutes into the third quarter did not help Warragul’s cause.
On a far more positive note, it was super game by goal defence Sarah Hams. Emily Sandman’s game in wing defence was her best for season, taking several intercepts and providing the team with continuous opportunities.
These two were the award winners as the C graders now very much look forward to supporting A and B grades in their finals campaigns.

Emily Hobbs and Liv Sheehan goaled consistently, and were well supported by Laura Miller, Bella Hefford and Ella Weir. Jaz Porch, Jacinta Bagot and Zoe Phillips worked hard in defence against tall opposition.

The final game for the season for the youngest Gulls saw a much improved side.
This group of girls came together at the start of the season as a young side mostly bottom age - with lots to learn, and learn they have.
With great leadership from co-coaches Green and Cole, the girls have all left the season with improved skills and a greater love of the game than ever before. Look out 2019 - these girls will be on fire!
Well done to Bairnsdale on a great game played in good spirits, and well done to the Gulls for a season full of fun and friendship.
Also a special shout out to all families and friends for supporting this team all season.
Awards: Pippa Cook, Charlotte Bundle and Lucy Williamson.
