Exciting new events for Lardner Park

Warragul & Drouin Gazette - - LOCAL LIVING -

Andrew Schreyer has been re-appointed for a second term as chairman of Lardner Park.

Presenting his report to the recent annual general meeting, Mr Schreyer said it had been an honour to be chairman for the past 12 months.

He said the aim over the past year was to consolidate the business while also seeking out new opportunities.

Mr Schreyer said chief executive officer Nicola Pero had led the charge in seeking new opportunities and some exciting new events were being worked on.

Mr Schreyer said Lardner Park continued to foster its community contribution and engagement.

Harvest Fest, a partnership between Lardner Park and McPherson Media is a new event that will be held at Lardner Park from 9-11 November this year.

He said the event promised to be a farming and lifestyle event with the pillars of “grow, make, eat and live.”

“These pillars will be brought to life through hands-on experiences, exciting retail opportunities, entertainment and educational activities,” he said.

The annual general meeting saw two new members join the committee including Jenny Muir and Joe Brady while Angela Betheras and Darren Hotchkin were farewelled from the board.

Retiring directors include Robbie Radford (past chairman – 18 consecutive years as a director), Corey McMahon (eight years as a director over two periods) and Brian Hopkins (past chairman - 16 years as a director over various periods).

John Rogers was awarded an honorary life membership for his outstanding contribution to Lardner Park. He was a committee member for 52 years.

Although impacted by two days of wet autumn weather, Mr Schreyer said Farm World 2018 was highly successful with fine weather on Thursday and Friday attracting huge crowds.

Despite two days of poor weather on the weekend of Farm World, he said it was amazing to see the numbers of dedicated people who still attended the event on the weekend. Online pre-purchased ticket sales were introduced last year and continued to grow this year.

Mr Schreyer acknowledged the support of deputy chairman Ian Bayley, board and committee members and the team at Lardner Park. He said the next 12 months would be an exciting time for Lardner Park.
