Jumping Jacks wallop Titans

- By Joel Batson

Division 3

Garfield-Tynong 172 def by Jindivick 4/213 Despite a couple of early wickets which halted their momentum, Jindivick has walloped their way to victory over Garfield-Tynong at the weekend.

Chasing 173, Jindivick were reduced to 2-23 as Daniel Savage (2-52) produced some early magic, however Jarratt Eastburn (79) and Paul Galvin (71) were simply too good, combining for a 110-run partnership to set up the Jumping Jacks victory.

Once Galvin fell Sayeed Shah (27*) completed the job, with stumps eventually called after just 48 overs, the Titans being put out of their misery with Jindivick on 4-213.

McCann scores ton

Yarragon 104 def by Neerim District 275 Yarragon has had a hard day in the field as a quick-fire century to Anthony McCann sealed the Panthers’ fate.

Defending just 104, Yarragon were never in the contest as Rhys George (62) and Brett Bransgrove (40) dominated the Panthers attack to see their side well and truly past the required total.

McCann then came to the crease and, showing no mercy, annihilated the change bowlers, with morale lacking on the vast Yarragon outfield as he remained not out as Aaron Donoghue (4-56) and John Buckland (3-33) fought hard to keep the score (275) below 300.

Warriors win nail biter

Buln Buln 114 def by Western Park 129 Stephen Briggs (56*) was the hero for Western Park as he saw the Warriors to a nail-biting one wicket victory over Buln Buln.

Resuming with just 115 to make, Sam Reid (333) and Andrew Burdett (2-9) proved a thorn in Western Park’s side as wickets tumbled at the other end from Briggs.

Jack Symes (3-28) eventually took the ninth, and Buln would have been confident of sealing an unlikely victory.

However Briggs had other ideas. A few lusty blows, and several once the score was passed, sealed the six points for Western Park as they were eventually dismissed for 129 as stumps were called.

McConnell back in form

Bunyip 231 def Drouin 156 Davis McConnell (5-35) has had a welcome return to form, taking his first five-wicket haul of the season to assure another victory for the Bulls.

Defending 231, McConnell removed Jude Fernando for a duck before taking another two quickly as proceedings looked ominous for Drouin.

Steven Austen (39) and Campbell Jolly (32) pushed the score to 94 and made things look a bit easier, however McConnell removed both to essentially put the nail in Drouin’s coffin.

Five other wicket takers showed Bunyip’s depth, as Drouin crawled to be 156 all out very late in the day.
