Worst day of year for Warragul club

After showing positive signs in recent rounds, Warragul Bowling Club had its worst day for the year day in round six of WGBD pennant on Saturday with all four teams losing.

Division two: Warragul (1) lost to Traralgon (2) 90/112.

John Vickerman, David Alderman, Necip Akarsu and Graeme Davis defeated Bill Bishop’s team 27/25. Luke Ward, Des Stephens, Peter Gallasch and Clive Padgham defeated Geoff Cole’s team 23/21. Matt Smith, Jim Power, Janette Gallasch and Ken Scammell lost to Graham Cross’ team 25/37. Ken Landman, Pat Hammond, Paul Simmons and Bill Clappers lost to Greg McRonald’s team 15/29.

Division two: Warragul (2) lost to Traralgon (3) 93/96.

Ron Collins, Roy Hammond, Bob Currie and Peter Wood defeated M. Cumming’s team 23/15. Ken May, Brian Kennedy, Russell Bruce and David Smith lost to R. Davey’s team 17/36. Keith Wilkins, Ken Brown, Shirley Melsen and David Gatewood drew with W. Detering’s team 25/25. John Bell, Kerrie Currie, Ian Belling and Jim Moyle defeated G. Talbot’s team 28/20.

Division three: Warragul (3) lost to Traralgon RSL (3) 70/116.

David Anderson, May Baldwin, Gabrielle Draisma and David Ferguson defeated J. Ward’s team 31/18. Brian Barby, Vin Roche, Matt Draisma and Fred Pitcher lost to D. Cheney’s team 12/31. Gary Thomas, Lester Mason, Graham Cobban and Chris Wilkins lost to J. Farquar’s team 11/43. Ted Holland, Patrick McGowan, Nug Davies and Ray Headspeath lost to R. Osler’s team 16/24.

Division five: Warragul (4) lost to Traralgon (5) 56/58.

Bill Dye, Glad Atkinson, Barry Downer and David Piggin defeated J. Moody’s team 20/16. Glynnis Mitchell, Marj Evison, Greg Mitchell and Mike Cousens defeated B. May’s team 22/19. Jean Kydd, Trevor Crofts, Marg Keeffe and Alan Potter lost to K. Ford’s team 14/25.

In round seven of WGBD pennant on Saturday, November 24, Warragul one is home to Neerim District, Warragul two is away to Garfield, Warragul three is home to Morwell two and Warragul four is away to Moe three.

The men’s championsh­ip singles is down to the last four.

Clive Padgham will play David Gatewood in one semi-final and John Vickerman will play Steve Pallot in the other.

The men’s championsh­ip pairs is also down to the semi-finals.

Graeme Davis and Peter Gallasch will play Des Stephens and John Vickerman, while David Smith and Matt Smith will play Peter Wood and David Alderman.
