Iona aim to keep winning form
helped put on a crucial 63-run partnership to end the day on the home side’s terms, with the day undeniably belonging to Constantine.
Titans require just three
Garfield-Tynong 4/65 v Hallora 67 Garfield-Tynong will be praying for sunshine next weekend as they are just three runs short of claiming victory against Hallora.
Bowling first, the Titans were seemingly unplayable as they were simply too good for the Hallora batting line-up as AKV Tyrone (416) continued his magnificent form, while Grant Pearson (3-20) and APK Rangajith (212) outclassed a young Kangas batting line-up.
Jai Newcombe (24) battled hard for his side, but when he fell the score went from 3-43 to all out 67 in the blink of an eye as the Titans flexed their muscle.
In reply, Garfield-Tynong’s hopes of quick victory were halted by Tom Kent (3-29) who removed dangermen Tyrone (16), McKie (11) and Pete Davidson (0) before Josh Horsburgh (17*) steadied for the home side.
However he wasn’t able to finish the job as Garfield-Tynong closed play on 4-65, with the hopes of no rain on their minds all week.
Warriors dominate
Western Park 1/12 v Ellinbank 71 Western Park has dominated proceedings against Ellinbank at the weekend, as a spate of ducks proved the Eagles undoing.
Batting first on the new Western Park synthetic, the batting woes which have plagued many at the ground continued as Ellinbank were reduced to 4-2 as Matt Garner (2-8) and Dave Burn (2-9) proved borderline unplayable.
Resistance was only met by Lachie Pratt (40) as he lost partners from here, as Peter Croft (23), Jack Barnes (2-12) and Luke Gilbert (2-19) showed the depth in the Warriors bowling attack.
In the end Pratt’s contribution was enormous to the Eagles total, as they crept to 71 all out with the final wicket falling in the 56th over.
In reply Lachlan Pyle struck for the away side to give them marginal hope, however it seems that it is Western Park’s game to lose as they closed the day at 1-12 with just 60 required for victory.
