scoring with 21, while Jack Logan (10) was the only other batter to reach double figures.

Michael Buzasi (2/5) wrapped up the innings as the Eagles (after grinding through 61 overs) were all out for a paltry 68.

In reply, Buzasi (10*) and Brad Gnaden (26*) got through the remaining six overs unscathed as the Jumping Jacks close in on first innings points.

Even contest

Iona 10/185 vs Longwarry 3/51 Day one of proceedings in the match between Iona and Longwarry was a hardfought affair with neither side able to gain the advantage.

Electing to bat first the Swamp Tigers struggled to get going with wickets falling at regular intervals.

An 86-run fourth wicket partnership from Graeme Rankin (60) and Lachlan Morris (falling just short of back-to-back half centuries with 48) helped get the visitors innings on track before Corey “Hard Core” Davis sent them both back to the pavilion in rapid succession.

Another quick wicket to Davis (3/45) left Iona in disarray at 6/149 before a handy cameo from Jarryd Bain (21) helped elevate the visitor to a challenging total.

Nick Pullen struck with the new ball to finish with 2/39 while Rob Cowan kept the run rate down snaring 2/17 off nine overs.

Left with 14 overs before the close of play, Longwarry got off to a shaky start, losing two early wickets before Jack Francis (17) and Gary Kear (19 not out) steadied for the home side.

Jarryd Bain finished the day with all three of the Crows wickets, helping to set-up what will hopefully be a thrilling conclusion.

Vintage Bagnall

Hallora 10/86 vs Jindivick Black 3/35 A vintage bowling performance from Jindivick Black’s Daryl Bagnall has seen Hallora routed for just 86 on day one of their clash at Warragul Regional College.

Sent in by the home side the Kangas were never able to get going as only two batsmen were able to reach double figures.

Rob Park anchored the innings with a watchful 33 while Jeff Ward made 10 in a brief stint at the crease.

At 2/38 the visitors weren’t in trouble yet but Bagnall’s first wicket was the catalyst for a major collapse that saw them lose 6/24.

Bagnall proved to be almost unplayable, conceding less than two an over on his way to collecting 5/17 off nine overs.

Gordon Winstone battled tirelessly to finish with 2/36 off 14 overs.

The Jumping Jacks run chase didn’t go exactly to plan however, losing Ben Giles (14) and Dinil Srinath (13) before ending the day at 3/35.

Gerard Ockerse finished with the incredible figures of 2/1 off four overs including three maidens.
