$7560 for drought relief
Drouin Rotary Club members have been busy recently with raising funds for drought relief.
The club held a clearing sale at Bellbird Park for Rotary’s Drought Relief Fund to help farmers experiencing extreme drought conditions in East Gippsland and other parts of the country.
Well-known local real estate agent and auctioneer Peter Williamson was assisted by Doug Peachey from Elders and Neil Scott from Alex Scott and Staff.
They all volunteered their time and talents to deal with almost 500 lots in five hours.
The auction raised $7560. The items ranged from small tools to tractors, farm machinery and even a couple of motor vehicles. The club acknowledges those who donated items for sale and those who took advantage of the auction to have their goods sold for a small commission.
Drouin Rotary has also recently used the proceeds from a film night to deliver a supply of small essential items like lunch boxes, underwear and toiletries to three local kindergartens so they can provide them to children from families that are struggling with cost of living pressures.
