Milk floods road

-

More than 30,000 litres of milk was cleaned up from the roadway and surrounding drains after a milk tanker overturned at Longwarry on Sunday night.

The milk tanker, carrying 40,000 litres of milk, overturned as it travelled around the west bound roundabout exit at Sand Rd.

The incident occurred at 7.15pm. The male driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to West Gippsland Hospital.

Two heavy haulage vehicles were called in to lift the tanker into an upright position.

The road was closed for a clean-up effort coordinated by the Environment Protection Authority.

The EPA conducted the clean-up of milk that had flowed into surrounding drains.

About 10,000 litres of milk and diesel were siphoned from the truck and tanker.

Police said Vic Roads also attended and the SES provided lighting at the scene.
