Trees for sale

To cel­e­brate the start of the Christ­mas tree sea­son the Ro­tary Club of War­ragul will have Santa avail­able to meet chil­dren at the Christ­mas tree plan­ta­tion in Burke St, War­ragul this week­end

There will also be a sausage siz­zle and al chil­dren will get a bag of sweets.

Santa will be at­tend­ing from 11am to 1pm. The plan­ta­tion is next to Gul­warra Heights Ceme­tery.

Christ­mas trees and stands will go on sale from Sat­ur­day and can be bought at BP War­ragul in Brandy Creek Rd and Rowe’s Nurs­ery in Lands­bor­ough Rd. Trees are also avail­able in Neerim South at Bl­er­ick Tree Farm.

Trees can also be bought at the plan­ta­tion on Satur­days and Sun­days from 10am to 4pm.

Pres­i­dent Ross Daw­son said it was a com­mu­nity sup­ported project. Again this year the club has as­sis­tance with har­vest­ing trees from stu­dents at the War­ragul Re­gional Col­lege and the War­ragul Ven­tur­ers who use their in­put to raise funds for their com­mu­nity projects.

Ro­tary’s ma­jor re­tail out­let for Christ­mas trees at War­ragul BP sell the trees for the club at no charge to the club as a com­mu­nity ser­vice.

Since Ro­tary be­gan grow­ing and sell­ing Christ­mas trees in 1985 more than 30,000 trees have been sold gen­er­at­ing prof­its in ex­cess of $250,000 that have gone back into a range of com­mu­nity projects.
