Swing into Darnum
Gippsland’s own “Swing Revival Quartet” is all set to present a stimulating afternoon of toe-tapping swing jazz music at the Darnum Memorial Hall on Sunday.
The quartet will gain inspiration from the Golden Swing era of the 1930s and 40s.
The fresh concert program features all-time favourites including “Bye Bye Blues”, “Steppin’ Out with My Baby”, “Sentimental Journey”, “Autumn Leaves”, “My Baby Just Cares for Me”, Hoagy Carmichael’s “Stardust” and many other memorable numbers from the era.
The quartet consists of Ian Christensen on clarinet, John Stevens on piano, Jack Pretty on double bass and Chris Waddell on drums.
This show is the quartet’s second concert of the year. It follows a highly successful swing jazz concert in March which attracted a near capacity audience at the Darnum hall.
All are welcome to come along and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of unforgettable music from a truly unforgettable era.
The concert will run from 2pm to about 4.30pm.
Admission is just $10 per person. Afternoon tea is included and there are four door prizes to be won.
There is no booking, reservation or ticket pre-sale facility. Be early with doors opening at 1.30pm.
Off-street parking is available adjacent to the hall.
