War­ragul’s av­er­age form con­tin­ues

War­ragul Bowl­ing Club had an av­er­age day in round seven of WGBD pen­nant on Sat­ur­day with just one team win­ning.

Di­vi­sion two: War­ragul (1) lost to Neerim District 80/96.

John Vick­er­man, David Al­der­man, David Gate­wood and Graeme Davis lost to An­gus McGil­livray’s team 15/28. Luke Ward, Des Stephens, Peter Gal­lasch and Clive Padgham de­feated Ray Watts’ team 28/18. Matt Smith, Jim Power, Janette Gal­lasch and Ken Scam­mell lost to Peter Throup’s team 17/22. Ken Land­man, Pat Ham­mond, Paul Sim­mons and Bill Clap­pers lost to Shane Ho­gan’s team 20/28.

Di­vi­sion two: War­ragul (2) lost to Garfield 82/105.

Ron Collins, Brian Barby, Bob Currie and Peter Wood lost to Shane Oliver’s team 21/22. Ken May, Brian Kennedy, David Fer­gu­son and David Smith lost to Tom Cleary’s team 22/31. Keith Wilkins, Ken Brown, Shirley Melsen and Ne­cip Akarsu lost to Peter Lieshout’s team 18/26. Ker­rie Currie, Alan McDon­nell, Ian Belling and Jim Moyle lost to Stephen Whyte’s team 21/26.

Di­vi­sion three: War­ragul (3) lost to Mor­well (2) 71/109.

David An­der­son, May Bald­win, Gabrielle Draisma and Eric Porter lost to G. Ber­ry­man’s team 13/37. Lester Ma­son, Vin Roche, Matt Draisma and Fred Pitcher de­feated L. Knowles’ team 26/22. John Bell, Gra­ham Cob­ban, Chris Wilkins and Mike Cousens lost to L. Auld’s team 16/25. Ted Hol­land, Glad Atkin­son, Nug Davies and Ray Head­speath lost to R. Anstey’s team 16/25.

Di­vi­sion five: War­ragul (4) de­feated Moe (3) 95/50.

Michael Royce, Bill Dye, Barry Downer and David Pig­gin de­feated M. Dyt’s team 32/13. Freda Lay, Glyn­nis Mitchell, Marg Ke­effe and Greg Mitchell de­feated S. Al­ford’s team 30/17. Wilf Boscombe, Trevor Crofts, Gary Thomas and Alan Pot­ter de­feated W. Loch’s team 33/20.

In round eight of WGBD pen­nant on Sat­ur­day, War­ragul one is away to Long­warry, War­ragul two is home to Neerim District, War­ragul three is away to Drouin two and War­ragul four is home to Mor­well four.

A num­ber of club cham­pi­onship events are down to the fi­nal stages.

The men’s sin­gles semi-fi­nals were con­tested on Sun­day.

John Vick­er­man got off to a flyer against Steve Pal­lot, lead­ing 7/0 after three ends. How­ever, Steve kept com­ing and went on to win 25/19.

In the other semi, Clive Padgham also had a great start and lead 6/1 after three ends against David Gate­wood.

Scores were level at 13-all at one stage, but David got the mat and played long ends, re­sult­ing in a 25/16 win.

Steve and David will play off in the men’s cham­pi­onship sin­gles fi­nal on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 16 at 10am.

The men’s cham­pi­onship pairs is down to the fi­nal and it will see David Smith and Matt Smith play­ing Des Stephens and John Vick­er­man.

The mixed pairs is down to the semi-fi­nals. Steve Pal­lot and May Bald­win will play Bill Clap­pers and Marg Ke­effe, while Des Stephens and Al­i­son Matthews will play Brian Barby and Dawn Thomas.

Fi­nally, the women’s sin­gles is also down to the semi-fi­nals. Shirley Melsen will play Freda Lay in one semi, while Elsie Hef­ford will play Edna Adams in the other.
