Untrue and misleading

-

At the start of the state election campaign Yvette Brand created the impression in her article that I was not interested in supporting a new hospital. This was untrue and misleading.

During the campaign I met with the goup lobbying for hospital funding and the chief executive of the West Gippsland Healthcare Group.

During those meetings I listened to their concerns as well as other residents’ views about our healthcare needs in West Gippsland.

I am in the process of forwarding those views to the newly appointed Health Minister and fulfilled what I always indicated – that is, I would raise these matters so that all our families in West Gippsland can have better health facilities for our community.

The article about Labor ministerial visits in Narracan by another journalist, Keith Anderson was incorrect.

This article suggested there were no ministerial visits during the election campaign. $500,000 was announced by Minister Eren for the Gippsland Cricket Centre of Excellence in Moe and Minister Pulford announced legislative changes to the Victorian Constitution that would make it difficult to overturn the fracking ban by any future government in Neerim North. This was the only state wide announcement made by any political party in Narracan during the campaign.

I appreciated the opportunity to listen to the views of our local community and would like to thank all those who have given me tremendous support throughout this campaign.
