Lo­cal tour­sim ven­tures among state’s best

Three dis­trict tourism ven­tures were medal win­ners at RACV Vic­to­rian Tourism Awards.

They were among six from Gipp­s­land to be recog­nised at the awards pre­sen­ta­tion func­tion at Crown in Mel­bourne.

Tallawarra Homestead at Ton­im­buk, a four­suite lux­ury bed and break­fast based on the clas­si­cal colo­nial style homestead, gained sil­ver in the hosted ac­com­mo­da­tion sec­tion.

The Sum­mit at Trafal­gar East re­ceived a bronze medal in the ad­ven­ture tourism sec­tion.

The fa­cil­ity on 50 acres hosts a va­ri­ety of events and camps and can ac­com­mo­date large groups.

A bronze medal was also awarded in the self­con­tained ac­com­mo­da­tion cat­e­gory to Vi­vere Re­treat at Neerim South that pro­vides three ac­com­mo­da­tion op­tions on its 18-acre prop­erty.

Two Gipp­s­land en­trants were awarded gold medals.

Bass Coast shire coun­cil won the lo­cal gov­ern­ment award for tourism and The Big4 Hol­i­day Park at In­ver­loch took out the top award for car­a­van and hol­i­day parks.

Phillip Is­land and Bass Coast Vis­i­tors Cen­tre was a fi­nal­ist in the vis­i­tor in­for­ma­tion ser­vices sec­tion.
