Local toursim ventures among state’s best

Three district tourism ventures were medal winners at RACV Victorian Tourism Awards.

They were among six from Gippsland to be recognised at the awards presentati­on function at Crown in Melbourne.

Tallawarra Homestead at Tonimbuk, a foursuite luxury bed and breakfast based on the classical colonial style homestead, gained silver in the hosted accommodat­ion section.

The Summit at Trafalgar East received a bronze medal in the adventure tourism section.

The facility on 50 acres hosts a variety of events and camps and can accommodat­e large groups.

A bronze medal was also awarded in the selfcontai­ned accommodat­ion category to Vivere Retreat at Neerim South that provides three accommodat­ion options on its 18-acre property.

Two Gippsland entrants were awarded gold medals.

Bass Coast shire council won the local government award for tourism and The Big4 Holiday Park at Inverloch took out the top award for caravan and holiday parks.

Phillip Island and Bass Coast Visitors Centre was a finalist in the visitor informatio­n services section.
