Longwarry lose close contest

After a close game all day, Warragul prevailed by 11 shots.

Division six unfortunat­ely had a forfeit against them and had a practice game.

Division two: Longwarry 2/86 lost to Warragul (1) 18/97.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) lost to Graeme Davis’ team 23/24.

It was a tight contest for the majority of the game, with several lead changes. Warragul was able to hold on and win by one shot.

Brian Hennessy, Hank Metselaar, Grant Pask and Russell White (skip) defeated Clive Padgham’s team 24/23.

In a close game early, Longwarry played good team bowls to get out to an 11-shot lead by end 21. Warragul stormed home, picking up 10 shots in the last four ends, with Longwarry holding on to win by one shot.

Glenn Pask, Lloyd Maisey, Ian Peterson, and Slim Eastwell (skip) lost to Ken Scammell’s team 20/23.

Longwarry got off to a great start and by the break led 14/8. Warragul came out and won six of the next eight ends to have a fiveshot lead by end 21. Longwarry tried hard to peg back the margin, but Warragul ended up winning by three shots.

Simon Counsel, Mark Serong, John McCarthy and Ken White (skip) lost to Bill Clapper’s team 19/27.

After an even start to the game, the score was level on end six. Warragul managed to win the next six ends to take a 10-shot lead into the break. Longwarry tried hard but the damage had been done earlier as Warragul won by eight shots.
