Tough event for Lardner
It is time for West Gippslanders to get muddy. The internationally renowned event Tough Mudder is coming to Lardner Park in October 2019.
Tough Mudder was founded in 2010 and is committed to promoting courage, personal accomplishment and teamwork through unconventional and life-changing experiences.
More than 2.5 million people have participated in events in the past eight years and Tough Mudder has hosted more than 130 events worldwide this year in more than 10 countries. IMG Event consumer marketing director Paul Mudge said they were excited to bring the worldwide phenomenon of Tough Mudder to Lardner Park for 2019.
He said they scoured Victoria for the perfect venue and can’t wait to unleash “mudders” on the Gippsland mud.
“The event requires a very specific venue and Lardner Park ticks all the boxes with rolling hills, trail running, forest sections and of course, plenty of rich mud,” he said.
Lardner Park will provide a 16 kilometre mud and obstacle course designed to test participants both mentally and physically.
Will it be challenging – yes! Will it test your mental grit – absolutely!
But Mr Mudge said, it also will strengthen camaraderie and the soul, and the beauty of the event is that participants don’t have to be the fittest person in the world to participate, there are no winner or clocks to race against.
Lardner Park has been touted as the ideal Tough Mudder location, providing the perfect mix of muddy flats, lush rolling hills and thick shrub for competitors to tackle.
Guaranteed to have more mud than ever before, participants’ legs will be crying out for some hard ground.
With obstacles galore both new and from the vault, the event is set to attract crowds of newfound and Tough Mudder devotees.
Baw Baw Shire communications and economic development executive manager Mark Kestigian said the shire was fast becoming a popular host for major events of all shapes and sizes.
“Tough Mudder is perfect for fitness fanatics and those seeking to push their limits in an exciting and challenging environment.
“Lardner Park is the perfect backdrop for this challenging event, and we’re looking forward to seeing it transform with a new set of obstacles and plenty of mud.
“This is a great event for our local community to be part of, either as a solo competitor, in a team or as a spectator on the day”.
For those not keen on mud but willing to cheer and encourage the brave, spectator passes will be available. Anyone under the age of 13-years old will be free.
The event will be held on October 19 and 20. For event information or to book your tickets, visit https://toughmudder.com.au/
