Windsor to take on dual principal role
An opportunity to oversee both a junior and senior school has led Brett Windsor to the Neerim community.
With both Neerim District Secondary College and Neerim District Rural Primary School on the lookout for new principals, Mr Windsor jumped at the opportunity to lead both schools in an executive principal capacity.
Current Neerim District Secondary College principal John Wilson said he believed the executive leadership position to oversee both schools was a first.
“It only really came about as they (Neerim District Rural)were also looking for a principal,” he said.
Mr Windsor comes to the role with extensive leadership experience.
His most recent appointment was as executive principal at Lowanna College, Moe where he served for five years.
He comes to the role having built an impressive resume of leadership experience at Gippsland schools.
“I’ve spent a bit of time in the principal’s role,” Mr Windsor said.
“Prior to that I spent five years as principal at Leongatha and then prior to that Ispent eight years as assistant principal at Wonthaggi High School.”
Mr Windsor said he looked forward to the change of role.
“The challenges will no doubt present themselves when I arrive,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to working across this site and Neerim District Rural Primary School.
“That interests me as I’ve never had that experience before.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the staff, students and community.
“Ihave no pre-conceived ideas of what it is going to be like.”
Mr Windsor will throw himself into the role at the beginnning of the 2019 school year.
