Triathlon breaks for Christmas

Saturday afternoon’s Wild Dog Triathlon was the last event for 2018, with the club holding its annual Christmas break-up.

Yet again WDTC saw an enthusiast­ic turn out for both junior and seniors events, with a great show from members of the Casey Cardinia Triathlon club in the juniors.

The club had its first 'juniors team' with Hannah and Indy showed the spirit of sharing to complete their race.

Christmas festivity was embraced by all, with the best dress bike award given to junior athelte Zara McNair and senior Mark Ferguson with best seasonal outfit.

Junior six laps was won by Tahlia Langelaan, while Zara McNair took out first in the five lap event.

Jacob Langelaan was first in four laps and Troy Oswald in three laps, while Oscar Williams took out first in the two lap race and Charlotte McKenna in the junior one lap event.

The Wild Dog seniors race saw some serious competitio­n with the long event taken by Jake Riley with an impressive time of 58:05.

Mitch Diston and Gary Olsson both had an awesome race, decided on a sprint finish.

The short event was taken by Mark Ferguson and the fun run by Richard Adams.

Wild Dog Triathlon race events will commence on January 12, 2019.

The new year will see the 'snap - community tri' to be held on February 9. The event is open to individual­s and teams. The club is hoping to continue to develop relationsh­ips with other Gippsland based Triathlon clubs, with 2018 participat­ion from Latrobe Valley Triathlon and Casey Cardinia members being valued, adding welcome additional competitio­n to WDTC members.
