Big day produces big wins

A big day of lawn bowls for Drouin Bowling Club on Saturday produced some big wins.

Division one: Drouin 2/86 lost to Traralgon RSL 18/98.

Matthew Willis, Tim Anderson, Ian McCartney and Adam Proctor lost to M. Gardner’s team 20/24. Janice Aubrey, Sheryl Atkinson, John Leighton and Toby Wallace lost to R. Lukey’s team 27/28. Bob Cole, Samantha Atkinson, Dennis Throup and Matthew Schreyer lost to B. Williamson’s team 17/28. Ron Brodie, Dale Hendrick, Les Firth and Glen Locket defeated R. Sizeland’s team 22/18.

Division three: Drouin (2) 18/98 defeated Boolarra 2/84.

Laurie Innes, Graeme Aubrey, Maureen Leighton and Arthur Moore defeated R. Peter’s team 33/21. In this game, Drouin picked up one four, six threes, including six on the last two ends.

Don Mowat, Mary Firth, Col Jeffrey and Colin Finger lost to G. Williams’ team 23/26. Steve Barr, Chris Brownlee, Phil Jarred and David Tayles defeated B. Allen’s team 20/19.

Gwen Price, Andy Kidd, Pauline Appleyard and Noel Rubenstein defeated T. Parker’s team 22/20.

Division four: Drouin (3) 20/103 defeated Garfield (2) 0/66.

Merv Appleyard, Elaine Thorpe, Ray Watson and Neil Bullen defeated C. Borg’s team 28/17. Also, in this game, Drouin picked up six twos and three threes.

Mal Anderson, Richard Joyner, Terry McFadzean and Brian Thorpe defeated G. Moxey’s team 21/18.

Margaret Schofield, Margaret Rhodes, Graeme Woolstencr­oft and Barrie Price defeated K. Donald’s team 30/11 to be “best overall rink” with a 19-shot win.

John Bulmer, Clive Newman, Peter Hone and Neil Stoney defeated W. Goodman’s team 24/20.

Division six: Drouin Longwarry (2) 8/46.

Max Hine, Barbara Watts, Gary Watts and Kevin Potter defeated Brian Mason’s team 15/13.

Jim Purvis, Tom Lawler, Ian Haughton and Les Gouge lost to Gerry Wakefield’s team 14/33.

This weekend’s matches will see division one away at Morwell, division three home to Morwell, division four home to Yallourn North and division six away at Thorpdale. (4) 2/29 lost to
